Know before you ship

Surcharges are usually about packaging.

Carriers price for both the weight you can lift and the space your box occupies. A few inches can move a package into an entirely different cost bracket.

01

Dimensional weight

Package volume divided by the carrier’s DIM divisor. The carrier bills whichever is greater: actual or dimensional weight.

02

Length + girth

The longest side plus the distance around the two shorter sides. Crossing a carrier threshold can trigger a large-package fee.

03

Billable weight

The higher of actual and DIM weight, typically rounded up to the next whole pound. It’s the number that drives the base rate.
