Shipping to the US from Honduras: Average Costs and Transit Times
Shipping to the US from Honduras is easier to plan when you know the package size, pickup location, destination, delivery deadline, and type of goods before choosing a service. Accurate shipment details and complete recipient information can also help reduce avoidable delays during transit and customs clearance. The right option will depend on how quickly the parcel needs to arrive and whether you are sending personal goods or a commercial shipment.
Honduran shippers gained another US-bound option in June 2026 when Correos de Honduras (HONDUCOR) relaunched parcel and correspondence services through Ultra Express. The service offers door-to-door delivery, tracking, and air transportation across the United States, while FedEx provides additional express and economy options from Honduras. Businesses shipping apparel, textiles, or other commercial goods should also check whether product-specific trade rules or documentation apply before dispatch.
How to Choose the Best Shipping Carrier to the US from Honduras
Match the carrier to the parcel, value, and delivery deadline.
Compare the merchandise, packed dimensions, value, US destination, tracking needs, and arrival date before booking. HONDUCOR Ultra Express covers US states, while FedEx lists international document and package services up to 68 kg.
Use HONDUCOR Ultra Express for eligible US parcels.
HONDUCOR relaunched Ultra Express in June 2026 with door-to-door US delivery and an estimated 24–72-hour transit to major cities. Parcels must be presented open for inspection with purchase invoices, complete sender and recipient details, and a prescription for controlled medicines.
Choose FedEx when published rates and defined delivery targets matter.
FedEx lists International Priority Express and International Priority at generally 1–3 business days, while International Economy is listed at 4–6 business days. Miami falls in Zone B and other US destinations in Zone C for these services, so destination and weight directly affect the published rate.
Check CAFTA-DR and Section 301 treatment together.
CAFTA-DR entered into force for Honduras on April 1, 2006, with its listed 20-year duty phase-out ending January 1, 2025 and originating goods exempt from the Merchandise Processing Fee. The separate 2026 Section 301 action generally adds 10% to products of Honduras unless an exemption applies, including the specific exemption for qualifying CAFTA-DR textile and apparel goods.
More Value. Better Service. No Speed Bumps Ahead.
Get StartedCommon Customs Delays and How to Avoid Them
Honduras-to-US shipments can slow down when export records conflict with US entry data, a CAFTA-DR claim lacks origin records, or regulated merchandise is missing required documentation
- Vague merchandise descriptions – Descriptions such as “clothes,” “parts,” “food,” “gift,” or “samples” can make classification harder. Enter a specific description, country of manufacture, 10-digit HTSUS classification, quantity, and value for each merchandise line.
- Incorrect CAFTA-DR origin claims – Exporting an item from Honduras does not automatically make it an originating CAFTA-DR good. The importer has primary responsibility for the preference claim, and qualifying origin follows General Note 29 and the applicable product-specific rule
- Missing or incorrect DUCA-D information – Honduras uses the DUCA-D for exports to third countries outside Central America, including the United States. Keep the DUCA-D information consistent with the commercial invoice, transport document, carrier record, and product data.
- Incomplete HONDUCOR documentatio – Ultra Express parcels must be presented open for inspection, with a purchase invoice for the articles being sent and full sender and recipient information. Controlled medicines require the corresponding prescription.
- Missing agricultural or sanitary records – Plant products can require SENASA phytosanitary documentation, while certain Honduran food exports fall under ARSA requirements. Check the product before customs filing rather than waiting until the parcel reaches the carrier.
Shipping Costs & Transit Times to the US from Honduras
FedEx’s 2026 Honduras rate guide places Miami in Zone B and other US destinations in Zone C for International Priority Express, International Priority, and International Economy. The published export rates took effect January 5, 2026.
| Carrier | Service | Average Cost | Estimated Transit Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| FedEx | International Economy, 0.5 kg, other packaging | From USD 71.60 to Miami; USD 113.60 to other US destinations | Generally 4–6 business days |
| FedEx | International Economy, 1 kg, other packaging | From USD 84.20 to Miami; USD 130.90 to other US destinations | Generally 4–6 business days |
| FedEx | International Priority, 0.5 kg, other packaging | From USD 81.40 to Miami; USD 136.30 to other US destinations | Generally 1–3 business days |
| FedEx | International Priority Express, 0.5 kg, other packaging | From USD 87.10 to Miami; USD 145.80 to other US destinations | Generally 1–3 business days |
Practical Note: FedEx states that its list rates exclude dimensional-weight adjustments, fuel, special handling, duties, taxes, and other applicable charges. HONDUCOR’s June 2026 Ultra Express launch states a 24–72-hour target for major US cities but does not publish a standard tariff table in that announcement, so obtain a current HONDUCOR price for the actual package rather than applying an older postal rate.
Who Pays Duties & Taxes
Choose the duty payer before dispatch so the Honduran seller and US customer know who is responsible for applicable customs charges.
- Delivered Duty Paid (DDP): Under a shipper-paid arrangement, the sender takes responsibility for applicable destination duties, taxes, and fees according to the agreed sales terms and carrier billing setup. UPS lets account holders choose the party billed for international customs charges.
- Delivered At Place (DAP) / recipient-paid: Under a recipient-paid arrangement, the US buyer or consignee handles applicable destination import charges. UPS still uses DDU terminology in some billing guidance and states that credit-card shipments without a UPS payment account default to receiver-paid customs charges.
Postal Reality Check: CBP’s post-de-minimis international-mail rules continue to change in 2026. For mail subject to specified Partner Government Agency requirements, Chapter 98 or 99 duties, or an FTA duty-free claim, CBP extended the formal-entry compliance date from October 22, 2026 to January 20, 2027; eligible filers can use the Entry Type 13 test as an alternative during the test period.
De Minimis Threshold
The former Section 321 administrative de minimis exemption for ordinary merchandise valued at USD 800 or less remains suspended in 2026. The change applies to shipments from Honduras whether they move through a commercial carrier or the international postal network.
- FedEx, UPS, and other non-postal shipments: Low-value merchandise needs an appropriate CBP entry rather than the former Section 321 process. Qualifying shipments valued at up to USD 2,500 generally use informal entry, while shipments above USD 2,500 and certain merchandise categories require formal entry.
- International postal shipments: CBP created a new informal process for eligible mail merchandise valued at USD 2,500 or less. Duties are assessed under the tariff treatment in force when entry is completed.
- Special postal categories: The compliance date for mail subject to specified Partner Government Agency rules, Chapter 98 or 99 duties, or FTA duty-free claims is now January 20, 2027. CBP’s Entry Type 13 test is an optional alternative for eligible shipments.
- Bona fide gifts: A separate statutory gift exemption remains for genuine person-to-person gifts worth up to USD 100 per recipient per day. Business merchandise, promotional goods, and ordinary customer orders do not qualify simply because the package is marked as a gift.
- 2026 Section 301 duty: Products of Honduras are generally subject to an additional 10% Section 301 duty from July 24, 2026, except where an exemption in the USTR action applies. Qualifying textile and apparel goods entered free of duty under CAFTA-DR are specifically exempt from that additional duty.
How to Ship to the US from Honduras
Honduras uses different export procedures for commercial shipments and HONDUCOR parcels, so prepare the shipment around the service and merchandise involved.
1. Choose a Honduras-to-US service that accepts the shipment.
Compare HONDUCOR Ultra Express with FedEx or UPS by contents, weight, US ZIP Code, live price, tracking, and required arrival date.
2. Prepare the Honduran export filing.
For commercial exports to the US, file the applicable DUCA-D and attach the commercial invoice, transport document, and any required permits.
3. Meet HONDUCOR or product-specific requirements.
Ultra Express parcels must be open with purchase invoices; controlled medicines need prescriptions, while regulated food or agricultural products can require ARSA or SENASA records.
4. Build the US customs and tariff record.
List specific descriptions, values, actual origin, 10-digit HTSUS codes, importer details, CAFTA-DR status, and any Section 301 exemption before dispatch.
5. Dispatch and monitor US clearance.
After Honduran customs and carrier handoff, track the shipment and keep invoices, origin records, permits, and FDA Prior Notice confirmation ready for US requests.
Required Shipping Documents to the US from Honduras
The records depend on the product, carrier, Honduran export regime, shipment value, and US customs entry.
- Shipping label or air waybill showing the sender, US recipient, routing, service, and tracking information.
- Commercial invoice with specific product descriptions, quantities, values, currency, buyer and seller details, and actual country of origin. US carrier guidance also calls for the 10-digit HTSUS classification and manufacturing origin for each merchandise line.
- DUCA-D for applicable commercial exports from Honduras to a country outside the Central American region. Honduras’ PGICE identifies DUCA-D as the declaration used for exports to third countries such as the United States.
- Transport document, such as an air waybill, bill of lading, or carta de porte, according to the transport mode. Honduras’ export portal lists the transport document alongside the DUCA-D for US-bound commercial exports.
- Packing list showing cartons, contents, quantities, and weights when requested by the carrier, customs broker, customer, or customs authority.
- Proof of value such as the sales invoice, receipt, order confirmation, or payment record when CBP or the carrier asks for records behind the declared amount.
- HS and 10-digit HTSUS classifications identifying each product for export and US import treatment. Current UPS guidance asks for product description, manufacture origin, quantity, value, and the 10-digit HTSUS number.
- CAFTA-DR origin records or certification when preferential treatment is claimed. The US importer has primary responsibility for the claim, and originating status follows General Note 29 and the product-specific rules.
- HONDUCOR Ultra Express documents when using that service, including the purchase invoice and complete sender and recipient details; controlled medicines also require a prescription.
- Phytosanitary or sanitary records for applicable agricultural, plant, animal, food, or health-regulated products. Honduras’ export portal identifies phytosanitary certification for applicable US-bound plant shipments, while ARSA handles specified food authorizations.
- US importer information when required for entry. Current carrier guidance calls for complete recipient contact data and an EIN or SSN when formal entry requires an importer tax ID.
- US agency filings such as FDA Prior Notice for covered food or documentation requested by USDA, FDA, or another federal agency responsible for the merchandise.
Shipping to the US from Honduras is easier to price once the sender knows the packed dimensions, actual origin, HTSUS classification, Honduran export requirements, carrier service, and US tariff treatment. HONDUCOR’s 2026 Ultra Express relaunch gives households and smaller shippers a fast US-bound route, while FedEx and UPS remain commercial courier choices with different pricing and customs arrangements.
For Honduran brands importing inventory into the United States and then shipping customer orders domestically, Speed Commerce can handle the US fulfillment stage after import clearance.
Q: Is HONDUCOR shipping packages to the United States again in 2026?
A: Yes. HONDUCOR relaunched US correspondence and parcel shipping in June 2026 through Ultra Express, with door-to-door service to any US state, tracking, and an estimated 24–72-hour delivery time in major US cities.
Q: Can I send Honduran coffee, Rosquillas, or other food to the US?
A: HONDUCOR’s Ultra Express launch specifically identified products such as coffee, Rosquillas, and churros as examples of goods customers can send, subject to shipment rules. Commercial food imports still need to meet US admissibility requirements, and covered food requires FDA Prior Notice unless an exemption applies.
Q: Does CAFTA-DR make products from Honduras duty-free in the US?
A: Qualifying originating merchandise can receive CAFTA-DR preferential treatment when the product meets the agreement’s applicable origin rule. Exporting from Honduras alone is not enough, and the importer remains responsible for substantiating the claim.
Q: Do Honduran clothing and textile shipments pay the new 10% Section 301 tariff?
A: Not when the textile or apparel product meets the stated exemption. USTR’s rule says the additional Section 301 duty does not apply to qualifying textile or apparel goods from Honduras that enter the US free of duty under CAFTA-DR.
Q: What does FedEx cost from Honduras to the US in 2026?
A: For a 0.5 kg package in other packaging, FedEx International Economy lists USD 71.60 to Miami and USD 113.60 to other US destinations. International Priority lists USD 81.40 to Miami and USD 136.30 elsewhere, while Priority Express lists USD 87.10 and USD 145.80, before fuel, dimensional-weight adjustments, duties, taxes, and other charges.
