Online shopping wins Black Friday – Cyber Monday

Shoppers decided to click instead of hit the bricks at traditional start of the holiday shopping season. And for online retailers, the news couldn’t have been merrier.

Here’s a quick rundown of key year’s Black Friday – Cyber Monday shopping stats.

  • More people shopped online than in store according to the National Retail Federations’ Thanksgiving Weekend Survey.
  • According to the Adobe Digital Index, online sales for Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday totaled $11 billion this year. Cyber Monday had the largest online sales day in history at $3 Billion according to Adobe. That’s a 12% increase year over year.
  • IBM reports Cyber Monday sales increase 17.8% over 2014. IBM also reported the average order value was $123. Average number of items per order? 4.
